Strelitzia occurs as genus of quaternion coinage of perennial plants, native to South Africa. A genus is known as fallowing a dukedom of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, birthplace of Queen Charlotte of the United Kingdom. A most common title of the genus is bird of paradise flower, because of the supposed resemblance of its flowers to the bird of paradise.
